Gina Paolillo
About
Gina Paolillo has been practicing and teaching the GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® principles of movement for over twenty-five years and was fortunate to study directly under creator, Juliu Horvath, in the nineties when he was still in New York City. She was working as a modern dancer at the time, supplementing her income as a personal trainer in health clubs. A ruptured ACL sustained in performance led to reconstructive surgery. The GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® was suggested as an alternative for rehabilitating her knee following six months of physical therapy. Having been away from dancing for months she was immediately drawn to the full, circular movements of Gyrotonic exercise. Within only a couple of months of becoming a student of the work, Leda Franklin, owner of Studio Riverside asked her to train as a teacher. After becoming certified to teach both modalities in the mid-nineties, she is now certified as both a Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis Master Trainer. Over the years, she has taken many teacher-trainings and workshops in a wide variety of protocols for specific populations which include Pre and Post-Natal, Pre and Post Hip Replacement, Osteoporosis, Scoliosis, the Pelvic and Shoulder Girdles. Gina is also a Specialized Master Trainer in the Gyrokinesis specialized courses with music, the Breathing Course Intensive, the Gyrotonic Level 1 with Music course, she is a GYROTONER® Master Trainer, and she is one of three Master Trainers teaching the Gyrotonic Pre and Post Natal Applications course. She holds a BA in Dance from Sarah Lawrence College and an MFA in Dance from NYU. Gina lives with her husband and two sons in Valhalla, NY. She teaches several courses a year while also keeping a full daily teaching schedule at her studio in Valhalla as well as in New York City.
