About
I studied dance at the National Dance Academy of Rome, Italy, and at the Houston Ballet Academy of Texas, United States of America.
In 1985 I moved to Brussels to join Maurice Béjart’s school ‘Mudra International’
After joining the Béjart Ballet Lausanne, I went on to dance in France with Jean-Christophe Maillot’s Ballet de Tours.
Back in Belgium, while dancing for the company Archipel Sud in Namur, I had the opportunity of working with choreographers such as: Marco Berriel, Philippe Lizon, Nacho Duato, Ben Iida, Jacopo Godani and Claudio Bernardo.
Between 1990 and 2011 I have mainly worked with Michèle-Anne DeMey, José Besprosvany, Claudio Bernardo, Thierry Smits and Joanne Leighton
During this period, I also worked as assistant choreographer for the re-staging of ‘Sinfonia Eroica’ (Cie Michèle-Anne De Mey); the creation of ‘Surprise’ (Cie Thor); ‘Dos y Dos’, a choreography by José Besprosvany for the soloists of Frankfurt Ballet and Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève; the creation of ‘Parabach’, a choreography by Claudio Bernardo in Paracuru, Brazil.
From 1996 to 2009, I set up my own company CMM/Compagnie Matteo Moles so I could devote myself primarily to my own productions, besides my activities as an interpreter, teacher and assistant with different European companies.
I also choreographed for Fine5 Dance Company, Vanemuine Teater in Estonia and Koninklijk Ballet van Vlaanderen in Antwerp (winner of Hapag-Lloyd prize in 2006).
I have more than 20 years of teaching experience, not only as a guest teacher, but also as parallel activity of my own company CMM/Compagnie Matteo Moles (1996-2009)
I developed various pedagogical programs for dancers and non-dancers from the age of 10 to young adults, and professionals, as well as educational programs at University of Tallin, Estonia, UQAM in Montreal, Canada and institutions in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, and Dakar, Senegal.
After teaching for a couple of years at the Humanités Chorégraphiques (Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium), I taught ballet and applied anatomy for dancers at AP (Artesis/Plantein), Royal Conservatory of Antwerp in Belgium, as part of the Health and Prevention Program, as well as coaching in Pilates and GYROKINESIS®
Parallel to dance activities, I am a Pilates teacher (recognized by the European Register of Exercise Professionals-EREPS), GYROTONIC® Master Trainer, GYROKINESIS® Specialized Master Trainer and CoreAlign® trainer.
