Ryan Lee Jones
About
Ryan Lee Jones is a dancer of Contact Improvisation, a teacher of The Gyrotonic®️ Method, and a bodywork therapist.
He trained at the London Contemporary Dance School and in Spain, first in ballet and contemporary and then Contact Improvisation (CI). Ryan was diagnosed with Chronic Patella Tendonitis in the right knee at the age of 17. Ryan began an in-depth study of the body, and with thorough maintenance, he managed to continue to train and perform. During which he explored various treatments, such as; osteopathy, physiotherapy, acupuncture, knee specialists, various massage and more.
Ryan gravitated towards Somatic movement methods to focus on the longevity in the body in dancing. Exploring; The Feldenkrais Method, Klein technique, Alexander technique, Axis Syllabus, Conscious Release, contact improvisation and through unearthing a holistic journey, Ryan began discovering his gift for healing and helping others.
As a freelance performer, Ryan has worked with a variety of international choreographers, including; Lauren Potter, Rick Nodine, Annie Pui Ling Lok, Victor Choi-wo Ma, Judy Yiu, Erena Reilant, Jose Reches, and Director Melly Still.
Ryan met Nonie (Specialised Gyrotonic®️ Master Trainer) in Hong Kong through Contact Improvisation. Nonie recognized Ryan’s special gift for healing, and he began working alongside Nonie, further learning the gift to detect and release the location of blockages and negative energy patterns within the body’s energy field. Since then, Ryan has deepened his ability to change negative energy patterns using movement, specific manual techniques, and channelling positive healing energy through his body and out of his hands.
It is Ryan’s desire to help others live their lives fully, pain free and in a way that brings awareness to the whole body. Locating ways to embed information into the nervous system so to prevent unwanted and potentially unknown historical energy patterns from repeating themselves.
Besides Contact Improvisation and The Gyrotonic®️ Method. Ryan’s other practices include; freediving, rock climbing, and embodied poetry.
