About
Michelle is a GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® Specialized Master Trainer. She is also a Master Trainer in the Jumping Stretching Board and the Archway, and she is authorized to teach the GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® Level 2 Prep courses, the GYROTONIC® Level 2 courses, and the GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® curriculum to music.
Michelle is the creator and official teacher of the GYROTONIC® Applications for Equestrians Course and the GYROKINESIS® Applications for Vocal Production Course.
Michelle is a Senior Pilates Instructor at the Kinected Center in New York City and a graduate of the Kane School. She was a long-time student of the late “first generation” Pilates Master teacher Kathleen Stanford Grant. She is one of a select group of "Pioneer" instructors certified through the Pilates Method Alliance.
Michelle is the creator of Vocalates™ - Pilates Applications for Vocal Production. Vocalates workshops, including the Dynamic Exploration of the Anatomy of Breathing, are authorized by the Pilates Method Alliance for CECs.
Michelle is certified to work with pre-natal and post-partum clients.
Michelle is a CoreAlign Levels 1, 2, and 3 instructor.
Michelle is a certified MELT Hand and Foot Treatment instructor.
Michelle is also certified by Betsy Steiner to teach Equilates – PILATES-based cross-training for equestrians.
Michelle studied Kinesthetic Anatomy and the Biomechanics of Motion, and PNF patterns with Irene Dowd. She regularly attends workshops and seminars including those given by Tom Myers and Eric Franklin. She studied the Alexander Technique with the late Marjorie Barstow. She studied taijiquan (tai chi chuan) with Dee Chao, Ben Lo, and Don Ahn, and Ba Gua Zhang and Qi Gong with Tom Bisio. She also studied yoga from the time she was in her teens. During college, Michelle was a Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, teaching swimming and life saving to people of all ages. She was also assistant coach of the girls’ gymnastics team at the Y.W.C.A. in Newark, Delaware.
Michelle is a graduate of the Theatre department at the University of Delaware and attended the acting program at the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco.
